A Brief Biography
Dr. Lisa Ossian is emerita professor of history at Des Moines Area Community College after teaching almost 30 years at Iowa’s community colleges and traveling across Europe.

She grew up in an Iowa state park and currently serves on the Oskaloosa City Council and Oskaloosa Lions. She has been a proud union member of ISEA since September 2001 and was elected for a term to the NEA national board.
Her research and publications have focused on rural
Iowa, especially during the early years of the Great Depression as well as the Second World War.
Lisa and her husband, Vince, are proud parents and grandparents. In her free time, Lisa enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
